Julian's Fiesta

Our little Senor Julian turned seven in May. Last year after his 6th birthday I had a great idea of a "Siete en Mayo" party theme.  However he kept insisting that he did not want a party...until a week before his birthday this year that is! So we decided to push back the fiesta date to June.  I asked him if a fiesta theme was ok with him or if he would rather have a character party. He said no to every character theme I suggested and said yes to the fiesta with one condition...there MUST be a water slide!

With that in mind, I designed the invitations. Opted for more colorful and festive colors instead of the traditional red, white, and green Mexican colors.  The invitation design was the inspiration for the rest of the party. It was the only item I emailed to all the vendors asking them to do what they do, having complete trust in their amazing talents. Could not be happier with the end results!

Fiesta was alot of fun. Julian was beyond happy. It was such a joy to see him enjoying HIS day. Laughing, playing, and sliding with his friends and family. Grateful for these sweet memories.

Warning! There is a TON of photos! My very talented friend Donnae from Capturing Your Heart did such a great job!

Guests were greeted at the door with this gorgeous Fiesta wreath made by Natalie at The Knock Knock Factory. Just love every single detail, but I must admit that the El Rey on the number 7 is my FAVE detail. We call our little guy "King Julian" and for those who don't know there is a Vicente Fernandez song called "El Rey" that we just LOVE.

I knew I wanted to hang some papel picado banners, however I looked everywhere for banners without a pink color in them and found nada! My sister, mom and niece came to the rescue by cutting the papel picado designs on plain tissue paper. I hung on some string and presto!
Used bright colorful lanterns, succulent plants and flowers as centerpieces.  I must admit that about an hour before the fiesta I remembered I did not buy any candles for the lanterns, so had the last minute idea to add a photo of the senorito instead. I think it worked ok. Used salsa, bean, and chile cans for the plants and flowers, an idea I found via Pinterest.
Favors for the girls included tini loteria packs, maracas, fiesta bubbles, chicle boxes, punch balls and mexican candy inside colorful traditional mercadito bags. Girls also received colorful braided headbands for them to wear. The boys favors included tini loteria packs, fiesta bubbles, chicle boxes, punch balls, mexican candy, but also lucha libre figures and finger trappers. The boys favors were placed inside brown gable boxes which I added colorful tissue fringe from Shop Sweet Lulu. Boys also received sombreros and bigotes for them to wear.

ALL the kiddos loved the bigotes!

I designed the sweets buffet backdrop banner, using a photo of his actual birthday in May. I knew I wanted to incorporate the traditional "Las Mananitas" song somewhere in the party and decided to added to the background of the photo. Hung some ribbon, added a tissue fan and a cardboard number seven to complete the look.
Julian's cake was decorated with a mini glitttery name bunting and ribbon tassel made by the fabulous Purple Pug and a little Chavo del Ocho wood figurine made in Mexico.

Cupcakes were topped with sombreritos and placed on top of a flower box turned upside down. The Purple Pug surprised me with the most beautiful cake stand bunting! Beyond adore.
These fabuloso Lucha Libre Cake Pops were made by Roni Sugar Creations.  Can't even tell you how much I LOVED them. Not only were they the cutest things ever, they were deliciosos!!
Roni Sugar Creations also made the yummy Mexican Wedding cookies. Colorful Mini Pimp Poms made by Titi's Tutus.
The sweets buffet also included traditional Mexican candies and sweets. Including Julian's all time favorite candy "Duvalin". He can eat one of those everyday. Seriously. Roni sent me the cutest mini spoons that were perfect to eat the Duvalins. I placed them in a tini Mexican jarrito. Must ask her where she got the spoons!!
Purchased colorful frames at Hobby Lobby, added photos from his birthday to place on top of our fireplace along with some succulent plants. Hung a "Feliz Cumpleanos" banner.
H'orderves included Mexican fruit cups with watermelon, mango, jicama, and cucumber (add lemon and chile), empanadas, taquitos, chips and salsa. Yum Yum!!
Drinks included Jarritos, Mexican Coke and Beer, Margaritas and Jugos (juice) for the kiddies.

Tacos were beyond buenos!!
Everyone also enjoyed some refreshing Raspados.

Made a "Bienvenidos" sign for the kids casita and placed some adorable printable photo props designed by Paper & Cake inside the window flower boxes.

Julian LOVES pinatas, I was so happy when I found this cute donkey pinata in Downtown LA.

Ha! The little guy does not like it when people sing "Happy Birthday" to him, but at least he let us sing this year. He was super excited to make a wish.

Kiddos had a BLAST on the water slide!

Everyone really did have a great day...

Including these two best amigos. Julian and his bestie from school.

It really was a day full of mucho amor and fun in the sun. Grateful to all the vendors that helped make this day so special for our little guy. Thank you to my husband and family for all of their help!
